2 Time High School All State Lineman - 1949,50

Captain of the 1950 McCleneghan State Championship Football team

Selected to play in the Shrine Bowl in 1950

Attended the University of South Carolina on a football scholarship in 1951-52

Joined the US Army and was an All Region football player and played in the Peanut Bowl & Service Bowl in 1953 and 1954

Played football at Newberry College from 1955-57 where he was voted All State, All Big Three & Lineman of the Year as a Junior. As a Senior, he served as Co-Captain, voted All Three, Lineman of the Year, All State, and several A Little All American Teams & Regional Teams

Offered a chance to play with the San Francisco 49ers

Member of Who's Who in American colleges & universities

Served on the SC & Pee Dee Board of FCA

Inducted into the SC FCA Hall of Faith

Coached football and track at Dillon High School 1958-61

Coached football and track at Saluda High School 1964-69 (Conference Champions in Track)

Coached Jr.High Football at JV Martin Jr. High School in Dillon 1975-82 and won 7 Conference Championships
