Robert “Bob” Mark Schuster

  • 1976 Graduate of West Florence High School
  • 1981 Graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Broadcast Journalism
  • At WFHS he participated in three sports of Basketball, Football and Track & Field
  • Voted Defensive Football Player of the Week by the Florence Morning News as a Junior
  • Voted Offensive Football Player of the Week by Florence Morning News as a Senior
  • Voted Offensive Football Player of the Week by Florence Morning News as a Senior
  • Was voted Team MVP as a Junior & Senior
  • Was named to All City Team as a Senior in Football
  • Set school records in the half mile, mile and two mile run
  • Undefeated in the Mile as a Junior and Senior at WFHS
  • Attended Francis Marion University and was All District in Track & Cross Country as Freshman and Sophomore
  • While at FMU, he served as the Public Address announcer at High School and FMU games
  • While working at WLTX-TV in 1980, he produced highlight packages for Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers
  • In 1985, he became the Anchor/News reporter for WPDE News – Myrtle Beach Bureau while doing play by play for the WFHS State Championship Game and all Florence area schools
  • In 1989 he called the high school football games after Hurricane Hugo while most people listened by transistor radio
  • He created the video production company, Backstreets Sports, that developed local sports productions & served as the voice of the Atlantic Broadcasting Sports Network in Florence
  • He was a local sports host for the Breakfast Flakes Morning Show, Kinard and Koffee Morning Show, Schuster on Sports on WJMX AM 970 Radio and hosted the Pre-Race & Post Race coverage at Darlington Raceway for NASCAR Races
  • In 1989, he was awarded three Addy Awards for Commercial Production Spots for the Pee Dee Sportsmen Shop
  • From 1991-present he has produced numerous documentaries for Clemson University
  • In 1995, he was awarded the South Carolina Broadcasting Association (SCBA) Sports Reporting of the Year for Darlington Raceway Coverage and in 2011 narrated and Co-produced “The Lady in Black” Documentary on the Darlington Raceway- SCETV
  • From 1995 to present he has run Free Lance Camera work for all ESPN Networks, ABC, NBC, Fox, MSN, Comcast, Sun Sports, Raycom, CSS & Fox Sports South Networks
  • From 2000-present he is the Host Producer for “Your Day” Radio on SCETV
  • From 2003-present he is a Co-Host for the Press Box Radio Sports Show
  • In 2007 he was the Host for “At Home Southern Style” TV Show on SCETV
