Glenda Dale Jones Heald

  • Graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1974
  • Graduated from Francis Marion University in 1979
  • Was All Conference in basketball at McClenaghan as a Junior & Senior
  • Started playing tennis on the high school team as a 7th grader
  • In 1969, played #6 on the high school team and won the State Championship #6 flight singles and 3rd flight doubles
  • In 1970, played #4 and won the State Championship #4 flight singles
  • In 1971, played #2 and was a finalist in the State Championships. Only singles loss in 6 years of High School Tennis competition
  • 1972-74 played #1 and won the State Championship 1rst flight all three years and won the #1 flight doubles as a Senior
  • Was team MVP in Tennis as a Sophomore, Junior and Senior
  • In Junior Tournaments, she won over 75 Tournaments including the State Championship in Girl’s 12 & under, 14 & under, 16 & under 18 & under and 21 & under singles and doubles
  • Selected to represent South Carolina in the Junior Wightman Cup in 16 & under and 18 & under singles and doubles
  • In 1977 she was chosen to represent South Carolina in the Seventeen Magazine Tournament of Champions in Mission Viejo, California
  • Received a Tennis Scholarship to Sullins College in Bristol Va. and then at Francis Marion University where she played #1 singles and doubles
  • She was MVP at FMU in 1975, 1976, 1977 and 1978 and All State in 1977
  • As an adult tennis player she was a 4 time finalist in the South Carolina Women’s Open Singles
  • South Carolina 25 & over Doubles and Mixed Double Champion
  • Southern Championship 30 & over Single’s Champion
  • North Carolina Mixed Champion for 35 & over
  • Served as the Tennis Pro and Tennis Operation Manager from 1988 thru 2013 at the MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, North Carolina
