- Held the McClenaghan High School Pole Vault record
- As a Senior, he was named All Southern in football (13 States)
- As a Senior he was selected for the Shrine Bowl and was voted MVP
- In 1962, as a Senior, he was the recipient of the Rainwater Trophy as
Outstanding Male Athlete in Florence
- Received a football scholarship to the University of South Carolina in football as QB
- After graduation, he played in USA Tennis Association Tournaments where he was a
highly ranked player and played on 4 State Championship teams
- In 1997, his 4.5 tennis finished 4th in the National Tournament
after
winning the Southeastern Regionals
- Was a member of the FBI and was recognized 3 times for his outstanding work by J.
Edgar Hoover & Patrick Gray
